Gary families, we know everyone is worried about the upcoming weather, we are closely monitoring the weather and will let everyone know as soon as anything is decided.

Parents, we apologize for the inconvenience but tomorrow night's Junior High Basketball games in Tenaha have been cancelled.

Our friends at the Panola Archery Club have two events coming soon for families in Panola County!
Kid's & Vet's Day
We host a FREE outdoor learning event each year for K-12 kids. We call it Kid's & Vet's Day because we have our local veterans groups come out and be present. The kid's pre-register (registration deadline is Feb 7th) and the event is Feb 22nd. They will be given a tshirt at check in and they are given lunch. The will go through a circuit of 4-5 learning stations (archery, .22s, shotgun, Panola County Wildlife Biologist, and Texas A&M Forestry). The Panola County Sheriff's Dept joins with us for this event and they handle gun safety at the shotgun station. Our kids grew up in the woods hunting, but we started this event 4 years ago for all of those kids who may not have this type of exposure. It is also a good way to teach kids gun safety in a fun safe environment.
3D Outdoor Archery
Our 3D Archery Competitions are open to all age groups and archers with any type of equipment. We have complete families that come out to register and compete. Each archer competes with their own peer group but they are able to shoot the range with their family. It is scored and there are winners for each archer classification. We keep the registration fees as low as possible to encourage families to come out with their kids so they can have this experience together.

Students, we are very excited to see you come tomorrow dressed as your favorite singer! We do ask, please, that students do not come with painted faces or piercings!

We have two Gary FFA/4-H Members in Oklahoma City this week competing at the Cattleman's Congress Heifer Show with their Registered Lim-Flex Heifers. This show is a national level show and is open to all students in the country that are members of 4-H & FFA from 3rd-12th grades.
Cash Stutes and Caitlynn Ayers will exhibit their heifers today (1/7) and Wednesday (1/8) against competition from across the country. Heifer "classes" are based on the age and breed of the heifer. These cattle are raised here in Gary, Texas and come from one of the top Limousine breeders in Texas, Red Rock Limousine owned by Lee & Julie Osborn. Our students raise, feed, halter-break and train these cattle daily to prepare them for this show and the livestock shows here in Texas throughout the year.
Raising registered show cattle allows breeders and exhibitors to participate in breed shows, maintain detailed pedigree information, see breeding stock at a high price and contribute to the improvement of a specific breed by selecting animals that meet strict quality standards set by their breed associations.
I know both of these students would LOVE for you to watch them!!
