The costume contest was a huge success, and we had a ton of participants this year! Congratulations to all of our winners! This is just a small sample of all the students and teachers involved! We will update this post with additional photos as they come in from our staff, but thank you to all the students and parents that helped pull off one of our favorite events!
Tonight, the 8th graders' haunted trail, Nursery Rhyme Nightmares, is still going strong and will open at 6:30PM by the Ag Shop entrance. You don't want to miss this one!
Tomorrow, our annual Halloween Carnival will begin with the Queen's Court and costume contest in the Cafeteria at 5:30PM, and the games, bingo, and cake walks all begin at 6PM! Come out and support our classes and have fun!

All of our Elementary students had a great time in art this week working on fall pictures such as ghosts and butterflies!

We had a lot of amazing celebrities (and Adam Sandlers) today! Tomorrow, our annual costume contest will begin at the high school gym at 8:30AM! We can't wait to see what everyone does this year!

We have an important announcement about tomorrow's Halloween Costume Contest! All parents/guardians will sit on the visitor side of the gym. All Elementary students can be signed out with their teacher at the contest, and all JH/HS students can be signed out in the office after the contest by their parent/guardian.

Today was all about our Bikers and Surfers showing off their best looks! We can't wait to see what everyone dresses up as tomorrow (Elementary as Celebrity and Secondary as Adam Sandler)!

There has been a change in schedule for next week's Volleyball game; Due to scheduling conflicts, the game has been moved from Tuesday 10/29 to Monday 10/28. This is also our Senior Night and we would like for all to come out and support the Ladycats and our three wonderful Seniors: Blair Cope, Sophie Hughes and Emma Newman!

Each year first year members of Gary FFA are tasked with learning the FFA Creed. The FFA Creed was written in 1928 and the words and meaning of those words still hold true in our lives today. Learning the creed isn’t an easy task, but students are challenged to do so and the student who memorizes it “first” receives their FFA Jacket paid for by Gary FFA as a reward.
This year, Emma Young has learned the FFA Creed by memory and will compete in the Creed Speaking Contest at the district FFA Contest against 23 other schools. That contest is based on knowing the words perfectly, giving emphasis to those words and answering questions based on the meaning of the words. Congrats to Emma on this accomplishment!

The fun doesn't stop with the game room on Saturday! We will also have our epic Bingo and BBQ hosted by the Junior class! They will be serving chopped beef sandwiches and brisket filled baked potatoes along with offering over 130 prizes during bingo! It all begins at 6PM in the GISD Cafeteria! The Junior class would also like to give a shout out to all of our prize sponsors, thank you so much for supporting our class!

Gary's Annual Fall Festival is finally here! Come join the fun on October 26!
Visit the High School Gym for the Game Room full of all the fun carnival games and prizes. Cotton candy! A photo booth! Live goldfish! A bouncy house! 3-Point Shootout! And so much more!
The delicious menu from our concession stand will be available as well.
Bring your cash for dinner & tickets and be ready for a fun evening!

Yesterday, our 8th graders were invited to Panola College for their Preview Day, where the students learned about the multiple CTE pathways available at high school and college, as well as potential careers they could pursue in their future! We are very proud of our 8th graders' behavior while at Panola College, and cannot wait for what they decide to do once they finish their high school career at Gary!

We were busy with constructions workers all day today! We loved seeing all the students participate and cannot wait to see what they bring for tomorrow, Bikers vs Surfers! Clothes should be worn under the swimwear if students choose that for their surfer look!

We had a lot of awesome Barbies and Kens today. Here is just a small selection of all those who participated. We hope everyone comes ready tomorrow in their construction worker outfits!

Car Rider Parents- In order to diminish congestion on 999, we will be using two lanes around the outside of the administration building until around the gym area where it will become one lane for pick up. See the attached picture which highlights where two lanes will be used. We will have people out there today and tomorrow to help with the transition. Thank you!

The next Gary 4H Meeting is tonight at 6PM in the GISD Cafeteria. Remember to bring two canned goods for our Community Project!

The 6th graders on the Gary Elementary Student Lighthouse Team did their first community service project before the Fall Break. They scraped, sanded, and painted the railing around the Gary Square. These students worked hard to help make improvements to our little town!

We had a lot of amazing Barbies and Kens today, and pictures will be posted soon! Tomorrow is Construction Worker Day, as well as the 8th grade field trip to Panola College. We ask that if 8th graders wish to participate in the dress up to wear regular clothes for the field trip and change once we return!
Don't forget, Friday is our Costume Contest, and is a half day for all students!
Speaking of 8th grade, they have a really spooky haunted trail that begins this Thursday at 6:30PM and this all leads up to our Halloween Carnival this Saturday at 6PM! We look forward to everyone coming out and supporting our classes!

We hope everyone had a great Fall Break and is ready to start our Halloween festivities this week! Our secondary classes will be offering morning sales in the Elementary parking lot starting tomorrow, and our first Red Ribbon dress up day is Barbie vs Ken, we can’t wait to see how everyone dresses up!

Gary ISD Family and Friends,
We understand that pets are an important part of our lives. However, pets can become uneasy when placed in a different environment, thus creating a potential risk. For safety reasons, animals (except for Service Animals), are not allowed on Gary ISD property during school hours and/or school events.
Thank you,
Gary ISD Administration
