Good Luck to our Gary FFA Chapter Treasurer, Caitlynn Ayers as she begins the process in hopes of becoming a District FFA Officer!
Gary FFA has “chapter officers” that lead our members, host FFA Meetings and plan our FFA activities throughout the year. There are 23 schools in our Longview FFA District and only SEVEN students in the entire district are selected to serve on the District Officer Team each year.
To be selected, Caitlynn will take an exam over FFA facts and dates, parliamentary procedure, and agricultural facts, participate in an interview process where Ag Teachers from around the area will ask her many questions and she will be judged based on her interview presence, then at the District FFA Convention on 1/12 she will present a 4 minute speech to over 100 other FFA Members for a popular vote.
The three scores from this process will be added together and the top seven students from the 23 schools will serve on the District Officer team for the 23-24 school year. Responsibilities of a District Officer include: attending district, area and state meetings, hosting district convention, participating in area conventions and so much more! Students in these positions lead THOUSANDS of students throughout the year of service.
Caitlynn is the FIRST District Officer Candidate in Gary FFA’s history and just completing the process is an achievement! We will know the results of the process on 1/12!
GOOD LUCK CAITLYNN AYERS!

Come out and see our JV a Varsity players take on Timpson! Games start at 5PM

The Gary Cheerleaders are hosting a Mini-Cheer Camp for grades PreK-5th on Saturday, January 21st! Forms should be coming home soon!

Come cheer on our JH Boys and Girls today at Timpson!

Parents,
Homecoming will be January 27th, and this year Mrs. Shadix' Floral Design class is selling homecoming mums and garters! The form and payment are due by Wednesday, January 11th to ensure all orders can be filled. Students will be allowed to wear their mums and garters to school on Homecoming day! Elementary students should be receiving a form today, and additional forms can be picked up from the Main Offices at both campuses.

Did you catch our special elf hanging around the shelves and hallways today? We hope you all have a wonderful Christmas break and come back well-rested and energized for the next semester!

Our Gary Elementary Pre-K Students made Christmas cards for the residents at the Winkler House!

The Elementary Student Lighthouse team did a campus cleanup yesterday. The event was put together by 4th graders Ryndee Beckham and Carley Shafer!

Parents; The boys basketball games tomorrow in Union Grove have been changed. There will only be a varsity boys game @ 7:30 in Union Grove (no JV game), due to a scheduling conflict on their part. We apologize for this inconvenience and know that this just means our JV boys will be well-rested for their next game!

Huge thank you to the High School office staff for providing all kinds of Christmas cheer this week, including a soothing hot chocolate bar, charcuterie luncheon, and cookies from Mrs. Debi!

Thank you to Brittney Davis and Leigh Ann Daniels for celebrating the upcoming holidays by providing a pancake breakfast for the Elementary staff yesterday!

Parents, Little Dribblers forms are due by tomorrow morning, so please get them turned in as soon as possible if you want your child to participate this year! If you need additional forms they are in the Elementary front office!

Update: All basketball games and afternoon practices have also been cancelled today. Y'all stay safe out there!

Parents, due to the possible bad weather coming our way we will be releasing early today at 1:00PM. As of right now, the basketball games scheduled for today have not been cancelled, but we will update everyone as soon as we get that information!

Working with cattle can be hard work, and it teaches students about dedication and determination. The animals must be fed and worked with day in and day out, even if the weather is bad or the student isn’t feeling the best.
Great job, Caitlynn!!

The Elementary is excited for this week’s festivities and can’t wait to see all of the kiddos! Tomorrow let’s pretend it’s cold out there and wear our favorite beanies or scarves!

7-12th students and staff are also celebrating the upcoming holiday festivities in style! On Monday everyone is encouraged to wear their favorite Christmas socks or a Santa hat!

7-12th grade students begin their semester exams! Check out the schedule for this week to know which classes will have exams each day.
